Day 216 - The Snow Continues ...

... with winds howling outside my window, blowing the snow around and throwing everything out of gear!

I was expecting the snow storm since I'd been keeping close tabs on the weather forecast and so I decided to bring my little point & shoot camera with me to work today.  I didn't want to risk getting moisture into my other camera since it's really a basic camera and neither the body, nor the lenses, are weather-sealed.

After being busy all day, I realized that the light was waning fast on an already gloomy day.  So I walked over to our cafeteria and shot down on the blizzard from the fourth floor windows.  I couldn't get many decent shots either by way of composition, or by way of settings.  There's hardly any optical zoom, so the digital zoom on the camera got me a lot of noise and I couldn't really crop in tight either.  And there were reflections on the glass window to boot.  

These were the best shots from the evening.

The patterns caused by the footprints in the snow were pretty interesting, especially in the second shot.

Day 169 - I crossed the bridge when I got there...

... but only after I had snapped up this sunset.  Gorgeous colours and the clouds tell a story of their own.  I tried different perspectives, but this low-down shot through the railings got me the best one.

These shots were taken a couple of days ago, but I just hadn't had the time to upload them because of my work schedule.  It's finally lightened up a bit, and although I'm exhausted, I figured I should start clearing my backlog.

Day 136 - The rains spoil the day

I wanted to do some downtown photography since it was a nice overcast day, but the moment I stepped out of the office to do that with a colleague, it started to spit.  Not wanting to get the cameras compromised by the rain, we took ourselves to the World Trade Centre and tried to find some nice subjects.

I found a couple of interesting things and then tried a little post-processing again.  I'm preparing for cooler weather and more indoor photography. :-(  The thought depresses me, but the reality is that soon enough, we'll be pelted with the snow and who knows how long that might last!

Day 132 - Black and White Day

I had organized a B&W photo workshop for my photo club at work.  So, we had to go out and shoot after an hour of instruction and I have to admit I don't visualize B&W well at all.  Here are a few of the shots from then.  I'd love to know what you think.

This last one turned out blurry because my arms were tired and I had to use a slower shutter speed as the sky was completely overcast and the light had gone down quite a bit. I also just saw the merger in this shot that's distracting.  Too bad, but I think this might have turned out better.

Day 126 - Curves and lines

Photo club meeting day - running out of ideas.  So, led the group to this circular elevated structure (don't know what it exactly is) and started shooting the lines and patterns.

And my fascination with reflections in the windows never ceases!

Day 66 - La Chine canal again

I had mandated myself to go to the same area (about 10ft x 50 ft) I visited last week and this time find some other angles and perspectives I didn't see before.  

I'm also trying to practise exposing with the histogram data than by just looking at the blinkies.  Not very successful in what I set out to do, but got a few frames I could use to chronicle the effort.  I will do it yet again and see if I can "see" more.  I think it gives me some practise with composition as well.
